While Joe Rizulo admits to having a real job, his passion project is to organize parties, particularly throwback Disco dancing ones. After having put on a couple of successful events at the Pointe Claire Holiday Inn, Rizulo wanted to give back to the community and partnered up with West Island Community Shares to put on a New Year’s Eve bash taking place at the Holiday Inn, with a portion of the proceeds going to WICS.
To date, Rizulo has raised over $5,000 for WICS in three other events and likes the idea of doing something for others using his skills as a party organizer.
The party starts at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, and a four course dinner will be served an hour later. Party goers can also access an open bar and celebrators who have earlier family commitments can come by at 10 p.m. for a reduced fee.
While Rizulo has favoured 70s disco music at past parties, the New Year’s bash is open to children and the top 40 music will be spun by DJ Double D. For celebrants not in a hurry to rush home, Rizulo noted that “there is a special room rate for people who don’t feel like driving or want to celebrate once the party ends.”
The New Year’s Eve party in support of West Island Community Shares will be taking place on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Holiday Inn Pointe Claire. Tickets, reduced room rate tariffs and more information is available by calling the Holiday Inn at [514] 693-3092 or online via discomontreal.com.
