Mimi Israël, head of psychiatry at the Douglas Institute and McGill University won two honours last month.
Last Wednesday, November 27, Roger Cadieux, President of the Forum économique de Verdun presented her with a 2013 Tip of the Hat award.
Two weeks earlier, she received the 2013 Persillier-Lachapelle career recognition award from Véronique Hivon, Minister of Health and Social Services and Réjean Hébert, Minister for Social Services and Youth Protection.
The Verdun-based clinician, professor, researcher and administrator specializes in healing people with mood and eating disorders. She also handles crisis intervention.
“All who know her can attest to her professional rigour, and to her humanity and ability to mobilize the health sector to improve access to mental health care,” said Lynne McVey, executive director of the Douglas Institute. “An award like the Persillier-Lachapelle is certainly fitting as it recognizes the contributions of an exceptional career dedicated to the well-being of people with mental illness. We are extremely proud and extend our warmest congratulations.”
Congratulations, Doctor Israël.
