Concert promoter Michel Corbeil has been hosting successful classical music programs where musicians play a concert to an audience by candle light for the last 11 years. The shows are created to evoke the period when some of the great classical pieces were first performed in church halls.
For the upcoming Christmas season, Corbeil has another show in mind, this time the string quartet Ambitus will be performing holiday themed music such as portions of The Nutcracker, traditional Christmas songs as well as work by Bach.
Corbeil promises to take the concertgoer back in time to an “ambiance full of light and serenity, imagine arising a music that is no longer earthly, a music that leaves in people’s hearts a feeling of happiness, capable of touching the soul and lifting it!”
Ambitus is comprised of Karine and Isabelle Bouchard on violins, David Bouchard on cello and Mathieu Côté on viola. The young adults have been playing their respective instruments since they were children and currently play in symphonies in and around the Montreal area.
Ambitus’ Christmas Concert by Candlelight takes place on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Notre Dame de la Paix Church at 11,075 Gouin in Pierrefonds-Roxboro. The show starts at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Salon Andrée at 13,075 Gouin or at the door the night of the show. For further details, call 450-419-9148 or go online at www.concertchandelle.com.
