Born in Lebanon, Ray Khalil arrived in Laval when he was four. He studied in both French and English, and earned a degree in medical biology. An entrepreneur since he was 21, Khalil now runs two food-industry businesses. He is close to Laval’s diverse communities and knows the challenges that they face trying to integrate.
“Harmonious integration of Laval’s immigrants is important to me,” said Khalil. “I went through the experience myself, so it’s close to my heart.”
Admitting that he is now learning fast about the different dossiers afferent to the city, he preferred to postpone answering questions about topics with which he was unfamiliar.
“I won’t make a promise that I can’t keep, or sound off about something that I’m not knowledgeable about. Just give me a little time—a few short weeks—sufficient time for me to get to know the various files.”
He said that he is looking forward to meeting his constituents and encouraged them to contact him, whatever question, problem or suggestion they might have.
“I love to be close to people. That’s how a lot of projects will get their start.”
