Changes coming to borough council

Electors in the l’Île-Bizard-Ste. Geneviève borough opted for change in Sunday’s election, ousting all but one member of Équipe Richard Bélanger’s team from office.
Mariancci took 42 per cent of the vote while Bélanger, despite eight years as mayor and serving as councillor for the borough during the early 2000s post Montreal merger, garnered a little over a third of the total votes cast.
Diane Gibb, running as part of Équipe Richard Bélanger, in the Pierre-Foretier district, garnered 26 per cent of the vote to Stephane Côté. In the Benjamin Viger riding, Montréal–Groupe Mélanie Joly’s Christian Laroque took half of the allotted votes, doubling Christopher Little’s 26 percent.
In the Ste. Geneviève district, Daniel Brouillard, who ran under the Équipe Denis Coderre pour Montréal banner tied for second with François Robert with 24 per cent while newly elected Jean-Dominic Levesque-Réné has a third of cast ballots.
