A new non-profit organization, The Table de quartier sud de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (TQSOI), is coming to the West Island and wants to focus on residents living in the southern portion of the municipalities stretching from Senneville to Lachine.
The goal of the agency is to provide services for citizens by bringing together residents, business and community leaders although the TQSOI has no direct political affiliation with any major party.
Some of the priorities for the group include food security, social housing and improved public transportation. On Thursday, November 21st at the Chalet Arthur Seguin in Pointe Claire, the non-profit agency will hold its first public forum where citizens are invited to come to learn more about TQSOI.
Coordinator Alena Ziuleva told The Suburban that the reason for the agency’s creation was ” there was already a group formed for the northern sector but no such identity was representing the south side.”
The goal of TQSOI is to “achieve improvements for the West Island by bringing decision makers and citizens together and the topics of discussion will be an open forum to discuss the needs of the community,” said Ziuleva. The Table de quartier sud de l’Ouest-de-l’Île’s first public meeting will take place on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Chalet Arthur Seguin , 365 St. Louis, in Pointe Claire.
