Beaconsfield resident Tom Quinn received the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award in Quebec City, Oct. 4.
The Rt. Hon. David Johnston officially presented the certificate during a ceremony at the historic Citadelle.
Quinn earned the distinction for his support of amateur sport.
He has served as a member of the Canada Games Council since 2006, and has presided over its board of directors since 2009.
“Quinn is a passionate and tireless volunteer,” the Governor General’s office said in a statement.
“Under his watch, the Canada Games have become a source of inspiration for young athletes from across the country as well as a proving ground for the next generation of international competitors.”
Created in 1995, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award recognizes living Canadians and permanent residents who have made a significant, sustained, unpaid contribution to their community, in Canada or abroad.
