Francisco Moreno: Vrai changement pour Montréal – Groupe Mélanie Joly

Masonry expert Francisco Moreno has been volunteering to improve his community for years. Now, he wants to make his vocation a full-time job, by becoming mayor to take care of people. He and his team joined Mélanie Joly’s team because she promised to let them focus on LaSalle instead of forcing them to think about how their needs might match those in Montreal.

He plans to emphasize public transparency in governance, rely more on borough workers rather than private companies and create local jobs.

“We think that you should give more control back to the blue collars who work for the city,” he said. “They have the expertise to do all sorts of things that private companies do now. That saves 3 per cent off the bat, and the blue collars can’t inflate contracts.”

Webcasting, term limits on elected officials, and webcasting meetings will help with governance transparency, says Moreno.

As far as jobs, they want to create projects for social housing and attract more companies to industrial areas instead of relying on the borough as a bedroom community for other places in Montreal.
