Vimont riding’s representative in Quebec City extolled a young Laval athlete in the National Assembly, Oct. 1, for accomplishment well beyond his years.
Jean Rousselle lauded gymnast William Émard for a string of victories this year.
“Mr. Speaker, I’m extremely pleased to have had the opportunity to meet William Émard, a young constituent in my riding who, from the age of four, has trained at the Laval Excellence gym club.”
“Thanks to his parents’ support, he engaged fully in his sport, surpassing all expectation,” he told fellow legislators. “After winning the Quebec championship at the provincial meet in Terrebonne in April, William went on to earn silver laurels during the Canadian national championship in Ottawa in May.”
“It’s worth noting the effort and sacrifice of a young man of only 13 years,” Rousselle continued. “He’s a fine example of the best of Quebec youth.”
“For that reason,” he added, “as the member for Vimont, I want to take this moment to wish him the best of luck during upcoming international competitions in Austria, Switzerland and the United States.”
