Pointe Claire resident Noella Parise is a prime example of how seizing the moment can make a tremendous difference to those less fortunate.

Parise was inspired by the Leucan shaved head challenge. Having lost her own mother at 42 years of age, she thought it would be a good idea to shave her head to raise funds for charity.

“She was a little bit on the fence on going through with it, but I told her that I’d do it with her” declared her son, Benoît.

They decided to support Leucan as their beneficiary on Aug. 25.

“I am lucky to have two young healthy daughters, so the decision to help kids with cancer was easy” said Benoît.

Close to 60, family and friends gathered at the Cambridge retirement villa in Pointe Claire.

“This being our first try, my mother and I set our sights of gathering $1,500,” added Benoît.

Their gesture was met with unbelievable support. The donations large and small kept coming in.

“It was an incredibly enriching experience. The generosity was overwhelming.” stated a beaming Benoît. “People are asking me if donations can still be made”

Leucan is an association, which for 35 years, has helped cancer stricken children across the province. The association further provides assistance to four major hospitals.

A reprise is planned for next year.
