The oldest Archives Communale deposited at this archives are those of Magny en Vexin, a commune which include the small city of Vélannes la Ville and the villages of Vélannes le Bois, Blamécourt , Arthieul – Said fonds are dated from the 13th century to 1392.
An archives communale is a local archive or municipal archive or archive des mairies (city archives) – Sometime in 2014, I will address the best Archives communales of France, the ones at least from regions where French-Canadian and Acadian ancestors originated from. The majority of their fonds deal with parish registers from the beginning of various local and regional churches plus notarial acts. Some of the earliest church registers and notarial acts in France are found in the archives communales.
