For the past several months, the city of Laval has been working on revamping its website.
The new Internet site is expected to launch mid-September. The project aims to give users a more attractive and easier-to-navigate website filled with revised content and a new calendar of events.
“We were due for site renewal,” city spokeswoman Annie Thibodeau said. “The last update was made eight years ago. We wanted to have a more modern website containing more information with a more intuitive user interface and more advanced design, to provide better service to our citizens.”
Six focus groups involving 67 residents of Laval were held from March 14-21, to identify what municipal services they used, their sources of information as well as their assessment of the current website and a prototype of the new website.
The technology firm G-Soft Group was selected in January, to implement the new site, using software known as SharePoint 2013.
Laval residents are encouraged to go online to participate in an online survey to help the city improve its website and online services.
