All members of the Quebec Liberals delegation representing from Fabre will be supporting Pierre Moreau in his effort to take over leadership the provincial political party.
“I was pleased to see close to 50 party members from the riding attend our meeting on the evening of Feb. 25,” said Gilles Ouimet, Fabre’s representative in the Quebec legislature. “It was a pretty good turnout.”
“I support Pierre Moreau in this race,” he explained, “and we presented 24 candidates who supported his bid.”
“All 24 delegates, including myself, were elected with no opposition,” Ouimet reported.
Each riding association is entitled to send a maximum of 24 delegates to the Quebec Liberal Party leadership convention in Verdun, March 17. Their vote will help to determine who will take over the helm of the party.
The party has laid down rules that specify the identity of prospective candidates. Each riding can send eight men, eight women, four men under 24-years-of-age and four women under 24-years of age. Ridings that are unable to elect enough people who fit these criteria are not permitted to send their full complement of 24 delegates to the leadership convention.
