Seven police vehicles converged on Riverdale High School, May 2, an eyewitness told The Suburban, after the school received a bomb threat.

Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) officials were tight-lipped about the incident at the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough school.

Vice-principal Debbie Dixon stated that police were summoned at about 1:15 p.m., and that “there was a concern, but everything is fine now.”

According to Const. Dominique Grenier, the Montreal police service responded to a false alarm about a bomb.

She added that investigators have discovered fingerprints in the telephone booth where the call originated, and that consequently police are hopeful that this evidence will lead them to the perpetrator.

Riverdale High School is the alma mater of Canada’s most infamous prankster, Michael Calce. The self-acknowledged Internet hacker, who called himself Mafiaboy, attracted international attention in 2000, after his attacks shut down multi-billion dollar search engine Yahoo!, plus many of the world’s largest commercial web sites. He was a 15-year-old Riverdale student at the time.

Anyone with information about the LBPSB prankster can contact police at Station 3 on Pierrefonds Boulevard.
